Meet the Golf Professionals
Westhaven’s professional golf staff has a wide variety of experience and expertise allowing them to develop programming for all levels of golfers.
The Westhaven team leverages the Troon Grow the Game Initiative to implement programs during Women’s Golf Month, Family Golf Month and all season long to encourage players, from the novice to the experienced, to get into the game of golf.

Chris Cauthen first developed his love for the game of golf while playing with his father and three brothers growing up in Jefferson City, Tennessee. His passion continued while playing on the Men’s Golf Team at Tennessee Technological University under the coaching of PGA Professional Bobby Nichols. Chris began his professional career in 1994 at Richland Country Club in Nashville as an Assistant Golf Professional. He was elected for membership in the PGA in 1999. In 2001, Chris was promoted to Head Golf Professional at Richland Country Club and served in that capacity until November of 2008.
As the Head Golf Professional for Westhaven Golf Club since 2008, Chris Cauthen brings tremendous energy and enthusiasm for promoting the game of golf to the entire family. From the development of a complete junior golf program to clinics for both men and women, Chris enjoys teaching the game to all ages and skill levels.
Chris was recognized as the Tennessee Section PGA Golf Professional of the Year in 2020 and the Bill Strausbaugh Award for the TN PGA in 2023 for his dedication and contributions to the game of golf. He has also been awarded the Middle Tennessee Chapter PGA Merchandiser of the Year four times (2002, 2008, 2019, 2020). Chris currently serves as the Secretary of the Tennessee PGA.
Chris and his wife, Amy, live in Brentwood and have three children – Brady, Briley, and Cade.

Ben Pellicani, PGA, brings an approach to teaching golfers of all ages that believes that everyone can enjoy the game of golf through solid fundamentals and good practice habits. Mentored by one of golfs most respected golf instructor’s Mike Bender, Ben blends proven methods with state of the art teaching technology. This system of improving players has been recognized by Golf Digest as Ben is the only teacher on the “Best Young Teachers in America” list in the state of Tennessee and recently voted third on the “Best in State” list for all instructors in Tennessee.
Ben was recognized as the 2023 Teacher and Coach of the Year for the Tennessee Section PGA.
A husband to Amber, they have two girls, Kendall (3) and Lily (1).

Gavin was introduced to golf at the early age of 3 by his father and grandfather in Church Hill, TN. He played competitive golf through the end of his high school career and finished as an all-conference golfer his junior and senior seasons. He graduated from East Tennessee State University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science with concentrations in Marketing and Sports Management. He began working in the golf industry in June of 2019 at Five Oaks Golf and Country Club in Lebanon, TN as an Assistant Golf Professional. Gavin started at Westhaven Golf Club in June 2021 as an Assistant Golf Professional and is currently working on his PGA status through the apprenticeship program.

Stephen Mead started playing golf at a young age with his brother and father in Stafford, NY. He attended the University of North Dakota where he studied managerial finance and accounting. He spent his summers working at Cathedral of the Pines a youth summer camp where he was the activities coordinator. He then started in the golf business by working in Northern Ohio as a Club Fitter specializing in Callaway. In June of 2017 Stephen joined Westhaven as an Assistant Golf Professional. He is currently working on his PGA status through the apprenticeship program as he works at Westhaven.

Chuck grew up playing golf in Venice, Florida under the tutelage of Jim Duval (David's Uncle). Chuck earned a golf scholarship to Stetson University from where he graduated in 1991. After school, he moved to Tallahassee and turned professional. His first teaching job was with the Bill Skelley School of Golf in Destin. He later partnered with PGA Tour member Kenny Knox to start a golf academy in Tallahassee. Outside of golf, Hammett spent many years in Corporate America working with financial institutions, while teaching golf part-time. He has authored a golf instructional book and has an extensive background in lecturing and public speaking. He is currently the head coach at Grace Christian Academy and lives in Franklin with his wife and three children. He will focus on growth of the game initiatives such as Get Golf Ready, member coaching and the middle school Team 615 program. He will also be available for private instruction.hen joined Westhaven as an Assistant Golf Professional. He is currently working on his PGA status through the apprenticeship program as he works at Westhaven.
Kim Williams

Kim hails from Maryland and played college golf at Mississippi State. Prior to instructing, Kim had a very successful playing career. As an amateur, she was on the Curtis Cup team, won multiple tournaments and was the runner up in the Women’s U.S. Amateur. Kim spent 25 years on the LPGA Tour and had numerous Top 10 finishes. Kim still has status on the LPGA Tour and continues to play in selected events throughout the year. She has worked with some of the top instructors in the country, including Mike Bender, Sean Foley, Dave Pelz and Bill Strausbaugh.
